40+ Years of Professional Experience

General International Group (GIG); is an ISO 9001:2015 certified engineering solutions provider with more than thirty-eight years of experience. We aim to demonstrate our engineering abilities and product range offered within our areas of focus. Our management's exceptional effort, combined with professional engineers and skilled technicians' teamwork, built the foundation that enabled us to excel and prosper throughout the years of our operations. Over time, we have met our renowned clients' requirements in various sectors: Government and Semi-Government; Energy; Industrial; Health Care; Hospitality; Commercial & Residential & Transport.

 

Engineers from diverse background

Management Compliance

Saleh

SALEH AWAD

As a graduate of Engineering in Electronics and Communications from McGill University in Montreal, Saleh started his career working as Testing Engineer at Nortel Networks Corporation (Nortel) at their Head Quarter Office in Ottawa.  After that, Saleh moved to the USA and worked as Hardware Design Engineer with Pittway Corporation, a manufacturer of Fire Alarm Systems (which later got acquired by Honeywell International Inc.).  From there, the passion for the Fire Industry started.  In 2001, after working in the USA for few years, Saleh decided to move back to the UAE and join the family business at GIG where Saleh worked in different positions from Projects Engineer, to Sales Engineer to Business Development to Operations.  During which, Saleh also managed to complete his Master of Business Administration from Deakin University in Australia.  Currently, Saleh oversees the operation of GIG with focus on Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Sameh

SAMEH AWAD

Sameh began his career working in Canada. Prior to moving to the UAE, he held positions working in Finance at two of the biggest organizations Nortel Networks Corporation (Nortel)to move back to his original home the UAE, Sameh started a career working Business Development in Dubai at InfoFort. A company that was later acquired by Aramex. Sameh’s background in Finance and working with multinational organizations in North America combined with the sales & business development skills earned working with InfoFort provided him with a solid base to take on the challenge of setting up the Dubai office of General International Group in late 2004. Today Sameh oversees the Dubai & Northern Emirates operations of the Group and was tasked to directly oversee and develop the international business for GIG.

    GIG set up its first international branch in Somalia.  Additionally, we rolled out our new ERP cloud system which will provide us with the necessary control measures and will facilitate in GIG’s international expansion plans.

    GIG upgraded its activities licence to include FM services.  This came at a time when Facility Management (FM) services became in demand.  Moreover, developers and government entities where requiring suppliers to be licensed as a FM service provider and not only to provide MEP maintenance services.  At GIG, considering the primary specialized services were already offered, the transition to offer FM solutions was seamless.

    2013

    GIG effectively started to focus & seek projects on the International market.  This resulted over time in earning the trust of many international clients and a proven record to execute projects in countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan, KSA, Qatar, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia & Mauritius.

An Arab expat who moved to the UAE in 1975 and worked in the construction sector for a few years before taking the leap and venturing on his own. A humble and down to earth-wise man, who realized the growing concerns of providing fire & life safety services at the time the UAE as a country was about to transpire from desert to development.

    1982

    Company founded in Abu Dhabi under the leadership of the late founder Mr. Mohammed Awad. An Arab expat who moved to the UAE in 1975 and worked in the construction sector for a few years before taking the leap and venturing on his own. A humble and down to earth-wise man, who realized the growing concerns of providing fire & life safety services at the time the UAE as a country was about to transpire from desert to development.

Despite new challenges, GIG stayed committed with investing in technology including a new and updated HRMS and CAFM systems. By staying true to core values and learning from the past, GIG emerged stronger and better prepared for the future.

    GIG set up its first international branch in Somalia.  Additionally, we rolled out our new ERP cloud system which will provide us with the necessary control measures and will facilitate in GIG’s international expansion plans.

    GIG's new corporate identity was born.  With the vision to promote integrated specialized engineering services in FLS, Security & ELV, Water Treatment & FM, came our integrated pieces of the puzzle coming together.

    GIG upgraded its activities licence to include FM services.  This came at a time when Facility Management (FM) services became in demand.  Moreover, developers and government entities where requiring suppliers to be licensed as a FM service provider and not only to provide MEP maintenance services.  At GIG, considering the primary specialized services were already offered, the transition to offer FM solutions was seamless.

    GIG effectively started to focus & seek projects on the International market.  This resulted over time in earning the trust of many international clients and a proven record to execute projects in countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan, KSA, Qatar, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia & Mauritius.
